Setup Tips: Tremolo Bridges
Some Rowan Guitars come equipped with tremolo bridges. They will provide years of trouble free operation if
properly cared for. When re-stringing your guitar please follow the instructions below:
- Loosen and remove NO MORE THAN TWO STRINGS at a time. If all the strings are removed at one time the bridge will become dislodged from it’s pivot pins due to the spring pressure and will require the loosening of the springs to replace it properly. This is
NORMAL on any bridge that is mounted on post or pin pivots as there are no screws directly attaching the bridge to the body.
- The normal relationship of the bridge to the body of the guitar is for the bridge to be LEVEL when the guitar is tuned to pitch. Changing string gauge or the use of alternate tuning will affect the bridge position. If the back of the bridge is high in relation to the front, move the spring claw toward the front of the guitar to apply more spring tension to the bridge by turning the two screws clockwise evenly and re-tune. Check the bridge position and repeat as necessary until the proper bridge attitude is achieved. Reverse the above procedure if the rear of the bridge is too low.
