Like many before me, I started doing repairs for friends and building guitars as a hobby back in 1996 with no thoughts of ever actually offering any of my creations for sale. I was just looking for something to do that was different from what I was doing at my regular job which was designing plate glass processing equipment for the window and curtain wall industries. The discovery of a catalog filled with all the guitar parts you could imagine was all it took to get my wheels turning and the next thing you know the UPS truck is at my front door with my first box of parts. There were enough parts in there to assemble four guitars including the necessary router bits and templates to make the bodies. I had decided early on that I was not going to copy or use an existing design so I came up with my own shape at the outset. It has been refined over the years into what it is now and I take pride in the fact that I did it that way. If I was going to make guitars with my name on them why would I use another person's design? So, with my box of parts in one hand and all the guitar building books I could carry in the other, I headed out to my little shop and started making sawdust. As luck would have it, I happened to have a few friends who were players in local bands and they all agreed to try out the first guitars and give me their opinions as to what changes I would have to make such as balance, weight and playability etc. I am grateful to them as I am not a player and without their input I don't know how all this would have turned out. So, here I am fifteen years later still making sawdust in the same little shop and I can truly say there isn't much I haven't seen or heard about building guitars. What I can say for sure is that most of what you see is what it is and most of what you read or hear is BS! I know my guitars won't please everyone and that's OK. If you own one of my guitars and you are happy with it, then I have done all I can do and I thank you for your choice. Now you know all my little secrets but if you want to ask me anything about what I do I will be more than happy to talk with you.

Thanks,

Michael Rowan
